The V Foundation for Cancer Research will bring invite several prominent local and national sports figures to play golf along with our foursomes sponsored by local businesses in a scramble format at Valhalla Golf Club, home of the 2014 PGA Championship.  Events include The Challenge Cup hosted by Fuzzy Zoeller’s Covered Bridge Golf Club on Sunday, August 6;  the Pairings Party, hosted by Wild Eggs at their Westport Village location, on Sunday, August 6 will include live and silent auctions, and live entertainment by Country artist JD Shelburne; and the Cowgill-Valvano Scramble Fore Cancer on Monday, August 7 at Valhalla.

This is the 24h year that Fred Cowgill has hosted a golf event in Louisville. The first 17 years Fred raised funds to benefit diabetes research, education and programs in honor of his father and sister. Fred’s father, Ralph Cowgill, also had pancreatic cancer and passed away in December 2009. After the 2010 event, Fred asked on old friend, Bob Valvano, to partner with him to raise funds to support cancer research identified by The V Foundation for Cancer Research.

The funds raised in 2016 event allowed the Louisville Friends of V to donate $100,000 to The V Foundation for Cancer Research with $100,000 going to UofL's James Graham Brown Cancer Center.
